Working with People with Emotional or Mental Health Support Needs
Length of course: 2 day
Course developed and delivered by a mental health practitioner and a trainer who has personal experience of using mental health services so that both the 'service user' and worker perspectives are present.
Practical course to develop good mental health support practice includes: applying the ‘recovery approach’; combating impact of labeling and discrimination; empowering approaches; responding to emotional crisis; communication skills; supporting people experiencing altered realities; promoting positive mental health.
Reflects the Department of Health’s ‘Ten Essential Capabilities for Mental Health Practitioners’ and National Occupational Standards, Mental Health.

Paid or unpaid staff providing a range of support services for adults with emotional or mental health needs.
