Who We Are
The Service User Reference Group (SURG) is made up of service user/survivor groups throughout Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset which are now covered by Primary Care Trusts.

SURG was set up to promote Effective Involvement and Meaningful Services within the service user/survivor community across the old Avonwide community with representatives from service user/survivor groups.

Our Aims

  • To promote meaningful user empowerment and involvement in the old Avon area - particulary collective advocacy.

  • To provide quality information on national and local mental health issues and services.

  • To raise shared issues with mental health service managers and staff.

  • To share ideas and views with each other about what helps.

  • To provide support and encouragement to groups which seek to improve services offered to people who experience mental distress.

  • We aim to be as representative as possible.

  • We are open to groups/organisations representing service users/survivors of voluntary and statutory services. New elected group/organisations' representatives welcome.
