Services at Headway Bristol:
Day Centre
Headway aims to support brain injured people to achieve social rehabilitation by improving their self esteem, so they can start to feel more confident about dealing with thier brain injury. Activities are developed around the interests, abilities and needs of those attending and support is given by staff and volunteers to enable service users to relearn old skills and acquire new ones.
Community Support & Outreach
Staff are trained and experienced with the required skills to work with people out in the community. Outreach can be provided from people's homes or at other venues. Activities include shopping, meals out, physical fitness and independent living skills.
Drop-in
Headway holds a monthly drop-in where people who have suffered brain injuries can meet informally and gain friendship through peer support and social events.
Resource Library
The resource library provides information and literature about other service providers as well as appropriate books, DVDs, fact sheets and reference books and material for brain injured people, their parents/carers and other professionals. For anyone wishing to obtain further information, we can provide talks, presentations and training.
Families and Carers Services
Headway offers information, advice and signposting to other services, as well as telephone, email and one-to-one support. They also provide a monthly informal carers group where people can share experiences and offer peer support. By providing day services and offering holidays and a social activity calendar for people with brain injury, families and carers gain invaluable respite.
