Volunteering for MindLine

Volunteers get full training on the telephone helpline and then work on a rota basis answering calls Wednesday to Sunday, 8pm to midnight. You must be aged 21 or over.

What we offer you:

  • extensive, high quality, Open College Network (OCN) - accredited training
  • be part of a lively team
  • regular supervision and support
  • out of pocket expenses
  • the opportunity to develop your skills and build your knowledge

What we expect from you:

  • agree to work with us for at least a year
  • attend all the training sessions
  • work a four-hour shift each fortnight
  • receive supervision after you have worked on the helpline
  • attend volunteer meetings

How to volunteer

We run two volunteer training programmes each year, one is usually in early spring and the other in the autumn.

The Autumn training programme is fully subscribed. The next training will take place in Spring 2012.

1. Download the MindLine information pack (PDF, 198Kb) - it gives you enough information to decide whether it's for you or not.

2. Having read the pack -  you'll need to complete and return this reply form if you're interested in the Spring 2012 training programme.

3. What happens next? Once we've set the dates for the training we'll let you know, and at the same time we'll give you dates of a couple of introductory sessions. These last a couple of hours and are designed to help you decide if you reallly want to commit to volunteering with us.

Contact the MindLine Administrator on 0117 980 0381 or email mindline@bristolmind.org.uk if you would like us to post you an information pack.
