Carers Breaks service from Rethink

A new Carers Breaks service is now available through Rethink for carers to access a small grant which they can spend on taking a break away from caring.

The type of break is very flexible, some examples of carer’s requests so far have been spa treatments, day trips, and gym sessions.

This is a pilot project, focused on Easton, Lawrence Hill, Southmead, Horfield and Hartcliffe, but we look for reasons to include rather than exclude so please call to find out if you are eligible.

Although Rethink normally supports carers of people with mental health issues, this Carers Breaks project is open to all carers - adult carers in any situation, carers of people with dementia, physical disabilities or substance misuse. Carers may look after a family, friend, or neighbour but often don’t recognize themselves as a carer.

The amount for the break is not means tested and won't affect benefits.

Please phone Faith at Rethink Carers Service on 0117 3532042, or email faith.allen@rethink.org for more information, or to make a referral.
