MindLine helpline - 0808 808 0330

A confidential freephone helpline giving a safe place to talk if you, or someone you know, is in distress. We can also give information about mental health and local services.

Bristol MindLine is here to support residents of Bristol and South Gloucestershire. If you live outside this area you can get information on support services closer to you from National Mind InfoLine on 08457 660 163 (Mon to Fri, 9.15am - 4.15pm).

For more detailed information see the MindLine information leaflet (pdf)

Newsflash - July 2011 - a change to the service

We are aware that demand for our service has increased, which makes it harder for some callers to get through. In response to this, from 13th July we're changing the maximum call time (per person per night) from 45 to 30 minutes.

We appreciate you may want to share your thoughts about this - please add your comments using this anonymous and confidential feedback form (on the Surveymonkey website).

Opening times

Wednesdays to Sundays evenings: 8pm to midnight.

Safe, confidential support

You can talk things through with one of our trained volunteer listeners. Or we can just listen. You don’t have to tell us your name.

We can also give information about

  • local services
  • how to get help
  • basic information on mental health issues.

Calls from mobile phones

Calls to MindLine and other freephone numbers are free from Orange, 3, Virgin mobile, O2, Vodafone and Tesco. Some T-Mobile calls are free, some charged. We last checked this information in March 2011.

Volunteering on the helpline

All our listeners are volunteers. Find out more on our volunteering page.

Feedback wanted - have you used MindLine?

If you have used Bristol MindLine, we are really interested in your views. We have set up an anonymous online questionnaire for callers - to let us know about your experience. Feedback from callers provides vital information to help us:

  • improve our services
  • apply for funding

You only need to complete the MindLine survey once (on the Surveymonkey website). It will probably take about 5 minutes. Thank you.

Funders

We are funded by NHS Bristol/Bristol PCT, Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council.
